My first ever doily!

Here is my first ever doily! It with worsted weight yarn, so its pretty huge and chunky so far, but I have zero money to buy the right kind of yarn. Its about 5 inches so far, and i'm on round 5. Only 20 more to go! I'll find a place for it in my dorm room next semester. Wish me luck! Click here for the pattern. Enjoy!

Update: about the 7th row it starts curling and wont lay flat. Any tips to keep this from happening? Or do I just need to buy the right kind of yarn?? All advice is welcome! Just leave it in the comments.

Gamma Gamma Gamma!

Here is a fun little project I've been working on in my spare time. Its the gamma sign for my Sorority Delta Gamma. Still havn't done the Delta yet, this one was easier. They are wall clings, I guess. About a 16 inches are so tall. I'm super excited to use them for next semester!

Clutch for formals!

I have Cream Rose formals coming up for Delta Gamma and guess what i made! A matching clutch!! It goes very well with my dress...sooooo cute. I used the left over yarn from my hip bag (a few posts below) and I barely had enough brown to finish it! I also stole the flower I off the hip bag because i'm out of brown! hehe.

I used Red Heart (brown) and Caron Simply Soft (blue) and a HUGE 9.00mm N hook. I just doubled up the two colors to get the marbled effect. Its basically a singe stitch until I got the hieght and width I wanted for the clutch. Once again, something made off the top of my head. I sewed up both sides and then the top, but left about 4 inches for a hole. I've showed it to some of my sorority sisters and they all find it adorable. Hopefully you do too!

Teal and Brown hip bag!

Here is my newest project! I always wanted a cute crochet hip bag, and now I have one. Cute cute. I used Red Heart yarn, I usually use the Carron yarns, but I didn't want this purse to stretch like the Carron yarn does. Eventually I will line it, but right now this purse is unlined. Since I made this off the top of my head, I don't have a pattern, but I did start it with the sunburst granny square in the post below, then just put a border on top. Thanks for looking!

Delta Gamma Pot holders and Sunburst Square.

Hello Everybody, first i'd like to say I have my camera now and have some beautiful 8.0 megapixel photos to show my new projects!

Here is my first non-traditional granny square! How exciting. its a Sunburst square I found with About.com. You can access the pattern here. It was a very fun patter with puff and cluster stiches. This is the first square for my afghan i'm making for my Boy friends Grandma. Me and my mom made a afghan for MY grandma over christams break. It turned our very nice... Guess I just love making afghans!

Well I'm very excited about this square! Hope you can make it and enjoy it too.

And here are some pot holder's that I have made for our Delta Gamma Alumni Weekend Auction. The one on the left is embellished with blue and pink glitter puff paint. Its more for decoration, or grabbing pots because I don't know if it is functional to actually hold a pot. The striped on the right is more funtional to grab and hold pots. Hopefully its a hit!

Cat Toys and Granny Squares

OK so my mom is a cat lady...and well...so am I. Although I can't have cats while at school, once I get my own place, I plan on haveing about 5 or 6. So I made this cat toy for my mom while I should have been studying for a Equine Health class. (don't worry, I still got on A) It took me about 2 hours, and was my first 3D crochet project ever! Another thing I'm working on right now is a Delta Gamma afghan. Our colors are bronze, pink, and blue. I'm hoping to line the squares with a bronze yarn if I can find something.

The quality of these pic's arn't so great...I'm aware....but the bf has the camera right now, so I had to use my phone!

Flower Power

Today I made some flowers to go on a crochet purse I've been working on for my boyfriends sister. The patten from Action Figure's Blog is very simple and easy to follow, and the flowers are adorable!

Using a size H hook, chain 4. Join the end to the first chain with a slip stitch to form a ring.

Round 1: (single crochet in the ring, chain 3) 6 times. Again, join the last stitch to the first single crochet with a slip stitch.

Round 2: (single crochet, chain 1, 3 double crochets, chain 1, single crochet) in each space created by the chain 3.

Round 3: Now you begin working in the back of the flower you have started creating. (single crochet around the first spoke, then chain 4) 6 times. Join last stitch to first stitch with a slip stitch.

Round 4: (single crochet, chain 1, 5 double crochets, chain 1, single crochet) in each space created by the chain 4.

Round 5: Repeat round 3, but chain 5 instead of 4. Join last stitch to first with a slip stitch and weave in ends. If you want to add another layer of petals, repeat Round 3, increasing the number of stitches in the chain by one, and Round 4, increasing the double crochets by two.
